Read about Australia
Do your adult or young adult learners want to find out more about Australia? Perhaps they aren’t sure where Canberra is, yet they’re talking about studying for the Citizenship test…
The Read about Australia non-fiction series is aimed at elementary level / post-beginner learners (or beginners with strong reading and vocabulary skills). You’ll see that the pages have a ‘literacy’ look, as I was thinking of the many learners I’ve met with limited formal education, and those who have had to adjust to reading in a new script and perhaps in a new direction.
These are just the first four books in the series, suggested by librarians from public libraries and TAFE. I hope I’ve met their expectations – and I know that teachers are also interested too!
There are also worksheets for learners to download, and YouTube audio, with links in the back of the books (thebooknextdoor.com/australia).
Where to find the books
The books are available on Amazon, but you’ll be able to order them through your local language bookstore or library supplier.
